Bites on legs after gardening. After doing some yard work on a beautiful summer evening I began noticing a few bite marks the next day. August 11 I got bitten by some insect on my lower back a few days ago and after 2 days I got red blisters pain burning sensation and numbness which have moved to my hip thigh and now my groin. Bites usually occur at night when you are sleeping in your bed hence the name.
The spot will be swollen roundish red with a dot in the center and super itchy. Theres nothing that can ruin a hike picnic or day in the garden as fast as the irritating itchy bite of the chigger. Mite bites are often hard to identify.
Wear protective gloves and clothing when gardening. Mosquitos are the most common backyard biters. Like hungry invisible ninjas these tiny critters climb up socks and pant legs looking for a place to feed.
General signs to look for. However itching may not occur for several hours after encountering the mites. I wear shoes pants long sleeves.
