Baby's Legs Wake Him Up
We have tried swaddling one arm at a time to ease him into not be swaddled at all.
Baby's legs wake him up. Keeps flailing arms and legs preventing him from nodding off. This is the first time Ive posted in the time Ive had my LO. Does anyone know what to do when you have a squirmy baby.
I tried swaddling but he hates it and is v strong - gets out of the swaddle easily. Some babies may nap for only 20 minutes at a time while others will nap for an hour or more. 55 month old boy.
He does this usually upon waking maybe up to an hour before. And he does this rhythmically so like for example hell flail about for a few seconds then stop and seem peacefully asleep then flail for a few seconds etc. Ever since we have stooped swaddling our baby his flaying hands seem to wake him up at night.
Crazy but it worked. He has to be swaddled for naps and sleeping and we use the miracle blanket since he escapes from anything else and it startles him up. My little guy seems to settle and get into REM sleep and then his legs will kick involuntarily and hes awake again.
There is a sleep disorder called Periodic Limb Movement Disorder PLMD which involves leg movements during sleep and can wake a child. Rub babys face with a cool washcloth. Its normal for them to hurt themselves from being so active with his arms but I dont know what to say about him doing that in his sleep.
A 5-month-old does not wake up as often as a newborn baby so if she is having trouble sleeping it should be easy to detect. Every time I put my LO down to sleep whether a nap or at night time he immediately starts flailing his arms and legs until Im pretty much. Cross fans gained access into his home while he was still sleeping bearing wrapped boxes loaded with money and other gifts.
